Barbie and her accessories!
The 50th anniversary of Barbie dolls was celebrated on the 28th of May in Moscow, and «Barbie and her accessories» international exhibition was held by PRET A PORTER PARIS » in Cara & Co. The fashionable doll appeared in different 50 dresses, specifically designed for her by the famous designers.
The American Barbie birthday doll is considered on 9 March, 1959. That day the very first Barbie doll, which was created by Mattel Company, was shown to the world in New York – she was dressed in a striped black and white swimsuit, her shoes were without the backdrop on the high heels and she wore a fashionable «horse tail».
50 famous designers (including Repetto, Delfina Delettrez, Margaux Lange, Thomas Sabo, Victoria Couture, and others) received a proposal to create accessories for a unique Barbie doll and also, according to their specialization – shoes, jewelry, handbags, hats, etc for the Anniversary Celebration. The results of their efforts first were presented to the public at the January PRET A PORTER PARIS exhibition in Paris.
In Moscow, a unique collection was completed by several Barbie dolls, the image was creative by Alex Oleshovym, the director of Cara & Co concept store, and designers whose collections were represented in Cara & Co – Isogava Akira (Akira Isogawa), Dzhinko Shimada (Junko Shimada), Jean Paul Knott (Jean Paul Knott) and Tim Van Stinbergen (Tim Van Steenbergen). Russian designers, such as Vyacheslav Zaytsev, Andrey Bartenev, Vika Gazinskaya and Violetta Litvinova also made exclusive images of Barbie.
Many guests of the exhibition opening have responded to the idea to observe a particular dress code event – Barbie / Ken Look. Two girlfriends got the prize for the best Barbie Look – Sasha Strizhenov (daughter of Alexander and Catherine Strizhenov) and Elizabeth Kostyukova (daughter of Victoria Andreyanovoy). Girls received Barbie doll collection from the «ToyDiKo» company, exclusive distributor of Mattel Corporation, Inc. in Russia and CIS countries.
There were many famous guests, such as Andreyanova Victoria, Tatiana Arno, Julia Bordovskih, Vika Gazinskaya, Dasha Gauzer, Nina Gomiashvili, Sergey Efremov, Galina Kryuchkova (Fashion House Slava Zaitsev), Varduhi Nazaryan, Alexander Terekhov, Maxim Novice. Mrs. Majori Sengshan (Mayouri Sengchanh) were the special guests of the evening. Pret-a-Porter Paris representative arrived to the opening of an exhibition in Berlin.
« First of all, Barbie doll is a kitsch etalon for me, – said Alexei Olesha (Cara & Co). – In life, each of us should have a drop of irony and kitsch, or the life will be so boring, the most important thing is to know the limit. Barbie Doll is a very grotesque character; it is a prototype of Paris Hilton, a unique instrument of social control that affects the public consciousness of female and male from the cradle. Girls forced to learn stereotypes from their childhood. And the boys are not searching their chosen ones in mother prototype; they choose them by the features of Barbie ».
