Major Trends of Autumn / Winter Outerwear of 2009-2010: Part Two

Written by Fashionica under Featured on January 26, 2010

In conclusion of the major trends of fashion garments for the autumn-winter season 2009-2010, you will find 5 more women winter coats.

In the second part of our review you will see a variety of models of outerwear: from classic coat – to outer garments, from the “school” style of minimalism – to fur-trimmed sleeves.

Pa2_text_2Minimalism
Today it has become fashionable to draw attention to the shoulders and the neck of the coat, removing all the unnecessary things.
Models of this trend may seem rather modest and simple in appearance, due to the minimalistic design: it has few buttons or “zippers” – all fasteners are hidden. Note that such a design is successfully combined with elegant, sculptural silhouettes.
The main colors: white, all shades of gray, antique gold, navy blue, red-brown, black.
Basic materials: wool and flannel luxury, satin, Cloquet.

Classical strict stylePa2_text_3
In difficult economic times, both sellers and buyers are increasingly turning to the classics, rather than to risky fashion innovations.
The classical component of this season is the outer garment of a strict, English style (often in the style of crombie), with one or two rows of buttons made from traditional materials: high-quality cashmere, alpaca, vicuna wool, the best varieties of tweed.
Basic colors: the classic yellow-brown, medium gray, dark blue.
Basic materials: high-grade wool, bilateral wool, the finest tweed.

Pa2_text_1Models with a belt
This trend also includes classic forms, but with accentuated waist. A simple leather belt is very originally combined with a rough male cut coat.
Here you will find models with double row of buttons, a black short crombie, and free “daffl” coats (with a hood and snaps in the form of loops). In addition, this piece perfectly underlines the expressiveness of the line of the shoulders and modern design of the collar.
Basic colors: the classic yellow-brown, black and chestnut, fashionable shades of the season: tomato, shocking pink.
Basic materials: traditional and high-quality wool flannel

“School” trendPa2_text_4
Very attractive trend, creating a charming image of a young schoolgirl. This is one of the few winter destinations, where you can see the fitting model, emphasizing the slender figure.
But here, the silhouette is given a light volume due to expansion of the lower part, which sometimes creates the form of the Empire style: it is particularly well illustrated by the model from Marc Jacobs with its high position of buttons.
By the way, note that the double row of buttons is a mandatory and a key element of decoration, a symbol of school uniforms.
Basic colors: black, gray, fashionable shades of the season, such as tomato.
Basic materials: flannel, tweed, corduroy.

Pa2_text_5Fur Sleeves
At the end of our review we would like to remind again that sleeves and shoulders are in the center of attention this winter.
You can add such an important accent with the help of a fur trim, which can transform the most ordinary form of a coat into a fashionable architectural silhouette. Most expressively looks the long-haired fur on the background of smooth fabrics, especially of rough tweed or short sheared sheepskin.
The main colors: white, yellow-brown, gray, black.
Basic materials: flannel, wool, tweed, long-haired fur of the Mongolian sheep, goats, foxes, minks.
