Paris Fashion Week: “English Gentlemen in Skirts” from Hermes
Autumn-winter collection of ready-to-wear 2010-2011 from Hermes, shown at Paris Fashion Week ready-to-wear Fall / Winter in 2010, again turned out to be very original – thanks to the talent of unique fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier.
Overcoming the centuries-old enmity of the French and British, Gauthier has created a stylish and ironic collection that will please all “anglicized”. The designer introduced in a new clothing brand attributes of a real English gentleman, and even a fashionable dandy: bowler hats and top hats, tuxedos and vests, raincoats and umbrellas, even watches on a chain.
In addition, in the new collection of Hermes Gautier allowed himself a little laugh at the “leather fetishism” of other brands – in fact many of the well-known brands in the collections of the autumn-winter season 2010-2011, abused the skin of all types and colors.
However, if you put aside all these leather “cuffs”, strange epaulettes, leather ties, umbrellas and other humorous accessories, there remain perfect stylish outfits of the highest quality cut. Especially good cashmere coats and other models of outerwear.
Besides “English” and evening dresses, Gauthier included in the collection a few things in the sports-style, knitted models, parks and even odd mohair dress with a fringe, that many critics considered to be maestro’s sophisticated joke.
The color palette of the collection is dominated by black and gray-brown tones, interrupted by bursts of leopard print, beige, red and orange-red shades. Well-known top models Sasha Pivovarova and Lily Cole took part in the demonstration.
