Recently, in the capital was held the traditional Christmas charity auction, arranged to collect funds to help seriously ill children. The initiator of the event was the GUM, and the money was collected by the “life line” fund.
A lot of fashion houses of the world supported the event; especially for the New Year they developed the design of Christmas trees.

The evening was leaded by Ksenia Sobchak, and among the guests and participants of the auction were many local stars in wonderful costumes, as shown in our gallery.Despite the considerable initial price of trees “haute couture” (70 000 rubles), many of them were sold, and approximately 4 500 000 rubles was collected for such a good purpose.

Stars were very attracted with the idea to become the owners of such unusual New Year masterpieces, and a special boom was brought by a Christmas tree from Dior, Chaumet and Llardo.

The tree from Louis Vuitton was acquired after the fierce bidding of Sati Spivakova (by the way, she is the “face” of the Russia brand). Catherine Mtsituridze became the owner of “green beauty” from Van Cleef & Arpels, and Miroslav Duma – from Cartier.

On the New Year eve, glossy magazines produce a lot of interesting new fashion photo shoots with the stars in the leading roles.
For example, Renata Litvinova was offered to take part in Vogue photo shoot in the original Christmas version of “Sleeping Beauty” – both in the roles of good and evil sorceress. The shooting took place in Tallinn, where Renata was playing in the film of Catherine Grokhovskaya “magic ball” – in the role of an evil witch.

In the glossy version of the famous fairy tale about the sleeping beauty the star is showing wonderful dresses from Chapurin Couture, Salvatore Ferragamo, Dior and other brands. Together with Litvinova in this fashion photo shoot took part Renata Piotrowski (as princess), Siim Metsla (as Prince) and Maria Astakhov a (in the role of little princess).
And in the December release of the Prestige magazine a well-known 19-year-old model Chanel Iman, one of the “angels of Victoria’s Secret”, presented a variety of dresses for every taste. In addition, the beauty spoke about her boyfriend Chris Smith and their enthusiasm for skateboarding.

Continuing to embody the famous children’s stories in the world of high fashion, the famous master of fashion photography Annie Leibovitz, with the help of a stylist Grace Coddington, Lady Gaga and top model Lily Cole, created a magical and a strange world.
“Little Girl & Boy Lost” photo shoot, from the December issue of Vogue in 2009, tells the familiar to us childhood story of Hansel and Gretel in its own way.

Annie Leibovitz was inspired to create this unusual fashion photo shoot after seeing the performance of a fairy tale about Hansel and Gretel in the Metropolitan Opera – a remake of an old opera, set by Richard Jones in 1893 at Engelbert Humperdinck opera.
So, the role of Gretel in this Vogue photo shoot was performed by a model Lily Cole, Hansel was portrayed by an actor Andrew Garfield, and a witch was played by the famous Lady Gaga.
The photo shoot story repeats and in its own way reinterprets the tale: a boy and a girl are left at home alone and hungry and go to pick berries in an enchanted forest. Having lost their way, children encounter strange and magical creatures, one of which lulls them: in their dreams children see a rich banquet.

Waking up, Hansel and Gretel go further and find a forest cottage, where lived a wicked old witch, who is planning to fatten and eat the boy.
However, savvy and smart kids manage to push the witch into the burning stove before she could bake them. The witch is burned alive, and all children, baked by her, are raised, and celebrate, singing together.
All these dramatic events of Lady Gaga, Lily Cole and Andrew Garfield are demonstrated in Leibovitz photo shoot in the clothes from Nina Ricci, Chloé, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and many other great brands.

Out-standing designer and founder of one of the most successful fashion houses Paco Rabanne was born in Italy in 1934. He lived in a family where the mother had strong political and anti-religious approaches, and grandmother was a churchwoman. This unity of contradictions left its influence on the future nature of the fashion genius. 18 year-old Paco Rabanne entered the National School of art and then began to make its first accessories, working in the House Balensiaga. His talent was noticed, and the young designer quickly began to cooperate with the most famous fashion houses in Europe – Dior, Givenchy, Yves Saint – Laurent. His first collection appeared in 1966 and was called “12 dresses from the material that can not be worn”.

It was a sensation – a young designer created a collection that hit the public the choice of fabrics and shapes, which until then had not been on the podium. His collection was made from metal and plastic, but, in spite of the outrage, the audience favorably accepted it.

This was followed by numerous collections of dresses made of paper, glass, metal, fur. His clothes were shockingly strange, full of femininity and attractiveness. At a time when he enjoyed his first success, Paco Rabanne created his first fragrance “Calandre” in 1969. These two perfumes became a cult for many ladies. At the same time he created a collection made from leather and aluminum, which many glamorous personages of the time chose for their concerts.

His collections consist of dress made from feathers and glass, plastic and waterproof materials. It seemed that they had no place in normal life, but Europe is already accustomed to applaud these extra-ordinary clothing. The dresses – sculptures, dresses – waterfalls, dresses – flowers – all these are creations of this talented designer. His dresses were shining not only on world podiums, but in most major museums in New York, Tokyo and Paris. The basic idea of the great creations of the designer is the freedom – freedom from the framework of limitations and the usual opinion, the freedom from tradition and prejudice, but, despite their unusual design, they were not detached from real life, harmonious fit even in tight office style.

Paco Rabanne’s unusual scent helped him create Ultraviolet and XS, which do not go out of fashion for years. And in 1991,the designer tried himself as a writer. His first book “Trajectory” became a bestseller, and then the book “The end of time” was successfully sold. The success of these books was another proof of the talent of master and its multifaceted nature.

The latest collection of Paco Rabanne Haute Couture came out in 1999.

Since 2005, the creative director of the house Paco Rabanne is Patrick Robinson. He continues the traditions of the founder of this brand, producing clothing, accessories, perfumes and ornaments, which cause a storm of emotions from fans of the brand worldwide. The success of each collection of the house confirms those being eccentricity and don’t lose their place on the podium, where fresh ideas can always find their place, there will always be admirers of the style of legendary Paco Rabanne.

Despite the general seasonal trends, each brand offers its style of trousers, long dresses, shoes and color trends of makeup.

Alexander McQueen: naturalness

«In the nude» trend does not have lack of vitamins and sunlight. It seems that designers decided to save and not make-up their models before going on stage; in any case, there was an impression of that after the show of Alexander McQueen. But it should be mentioned that with minimum efforts he had amazing results. The spring freshness and aristocratic pallor was what doctor McQueen prescribed. The trend was expressed brightly by Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Calvin Klein, Burberry Prorsum, Prada, Christopher Kane, Balenciaga, Giambattista Valli, Fendi, Givenchy, Stella McCartney and Ralph Laurent.

Gucci: bright eyes

Juicy collection from Gucci was focused on eyes. Frida Giannini chose turquoise shades and a black pencil. Do not hide such beauty behind dark glasses! See also pink eyes by Jonathan Saunders’ collection, canary by Sportmax, ginger by Alexandre Herchcovitch and Rodarte and violet by Christian Lacroix.

Yves Saint Laurent: outlining

For an effective and efficient eye shooting just draw arrows on your eyelid. For its realization you will need liquid outline or pencil. But it should be black and only black. You will find such example in the collection of Yves Saint Laurent. We will advise you to use outlines from Moschino, Valentino, Giles, Dries van Noten.

Versace: Metallic

When you wear silver, gold or bronze clothes, shoes, handbags and jewelry you need to add such shadows to your skin. Donatella chose the combination of copper and gold. We can see violet lips in the show by Zac Posen and chocolate by Dior, a gold face by Missoni, silver eyes by Vera Wang and Giorgio Armani, bronze – by Oscar de la Renta.

Louis Vuitton: stressing lips and eyes

The first rule of old-fashioned make-up estheticians of accentuating only eyes or lips has lost its currency. Marc Jacobs believes that everything should look beautiful. So we are applying red chopstick as berry jelly on our lips and stress the eyes with smoky shadows. Remember that smoky eyes always look very sexy. We leave eyebrows and cheekbones in their natural way. You can observe such image on the models of Nina Ricci, Miu Miu and Dior.
